Hello there! My name is Alex, and I would like to give you a little glimpse into my life thus far. I’ve always seen storytelling to be an important aspect in life. I graduated from Washburn University in Topeka, Kansas in 2020 with a Bachelor’s degree in Mass Media with an emphasis on Film and Video. While here I minored in Computer Science and took other courses that included design, and writing. I worked on a number of film projects at Washburn, gaining expertise in all aspects of filmmaking including directing, editing, and cinematography. Platte County Board of Services in Kansas City, Missouri, is where my post-college videomaking experience has most recently been put to use. I create a variety of video content for them, both internally—like onboarding and training videos—and externally—like videos showcasing their Community Partners as well as videos showcasing our clients and their talents for YouTube. Additionally, I’ve had the opportunity to collaborate with Joey Cool, a rapper from Kansas City, and create a promotional video for exclusive merchandise with him and his team as well as shooting footage at a few of his local shows.
Let’s talk about my photography now! I love doing event photography such as weddings and concerts. I’m really passionate about using photography to document events because it’s the most significant aspect of the event and allows you to locate the ideal moments and memories to preserve forever.
My most prestigious accomplishment thus far has been getting to work for the Chiefs Radio Network in Kansas City. There, I am in charge of capturing highlight worthy plays called by the voice of the Chiefs, Mitch Holthus and I edit them and save them where they get archived for future use. These are used by the Chiefs organization on their various social media platforms, but you may have also heard these radio calls that I edited and saved played back on various TV networks such as NBC, CBS, and even ESPN.
